| Name: | Chaplaincy In The Park |
|---|---|
| Location: | Patton, Pennsylvania, United States |
This year at Prince Gallitzin State Park, through joint cooperation with the Pennsylvania Council of Churches (PCC), Middle PA District Church of the Brethren and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
This is Dave's fifth summer at the park as Chaplain.
I have lived in the Patton area for 20 years.
Dave Flumerfelt has been involved with the chaplaincy program for the past nine years. He has provided housing for several chaplains while they have done their work at the park. He is a member of Altoona 28th Street Church of the Brethren where he is a Deacon and financial secretary. In November 2005 he became a licensed minister in the Church of the Brethren. He is chairman of Middle PA District Church of the Brethren Disaster Response Committee and is certified as a Disaster Child Care volunteer. He is on the Board of Camp Blue Diamond in Petersburg PA. He is a member of the Breezewood Trucker/Traveler Management committee (another PCC Ministry). Locally, he has been Mr. Cookie and the magazine fund raising chair for the local Girl Scout service unit. He is married to Ann Wetzel MD, a local OB/Gyn and they have 3 children.
Holly Flumerfelt is Dave's oldest daughter. She is a 2001 graduate of Cambria Heights High School and attended Juniata College in Huntingdon PA. She studied Peace and Conflict Studies and Anthropology. She is also a certified Diaster Child Care volunteer. She has served on the Church of the Brethren's Urban Peace Tour three times in Southern Ohio, Southern California, and Indiana. She was an active member at 28th Street's youth group in high school. She also was in Girl Scouts in Patton. Holly also started an Anime Clube at Juniata. Holly attends Scince Fiction and Anime conventions (what color will her hair be?) and is willing to share her knowledge of this subject. She presently works in her mother's Altoona office.
This blog is a place for us to post pictures and updates on our activities, so that frequent PGSP campers can see what we're doing. Holly will update the blog weekly with our current activities and planned programs. Please feel free to email us at: pgsp.chaplains@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
